Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-regulated learning in students of research interest classes at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta. Emotional intelligence plays an important role in academic success, especially in special classes with a high academic load. This study used a quantitative correlational approach with 32 subjects of grade VIII research interest students. The instrument was a psychological scale to measure emotional intelligence and self-regulated learning. The results showed that students with high emotional intelligence tend to have good self-regulated learning. This finding emphasises the importance of developing emotional skills and independent learning abilities in educational strategies.
