Abstract

This research aims to investigate and analyze the masculine characteristics of the character Merida in Brave, produced in 2012 by Pixar and released by Disney. This research talks about Merida's character in the film, starting from how she responds to problems, how she behaves, how she solves problems, and what she says. The analysis uses content analysis, where each scene and dialogue will be observed more deeply, including facial expressions and the atmosphere in the film. In addition to analyzing Merida's character, this research also talks about what hidden messages Merida conveys in every dialogue and song she sings. These messages point to Merida's artistry and resilience in fighting the myths.
